when i went they only had chicken or pork tamales. i got 3 chicken. 2-3 tamales by itself is a good meal. the chicken tamales has some spicy green chilies in em but not too much, i liked it a lot. go check it out, if you like tamales you'll love this joint. it does seem to be more of a take away joint, not a lot of seating inside but some. i took mine away.

These are the best tamales I've ever had, and I grew up in Texas where local families would make them and sell them door to door. A dozen tamales sets you back $13, but bring cash. They have several varieties, but the spicy chicken is my go-to.

A cute little place with pleasant people working behind the counter. Got 3 dozen tamales to share with the family over Thanksgiving and everyone loved them. We got all three kinds and I would say that the pork and the cheese/jalapeno were my two favs. The chicken was good too, but I thought that the pork had the best flavor. Would go back next time I am in town.

Awsome tamales at totally reasonable prices. Not much to look at on the outside or inside, but it doesn't matter when the food is this good. Eat here, you won't regret it. I almost forgot about the elote.. It's not the traditional on the cob, instead it's in a cup, much easier to eat and it's just as good as the tamales!!!!!

I love this place. I stop here about once every couple weeks. Awesome tamales at an affordable price. I buy them a half dozen ($7!) at a time. My favorite are the chicken tamales. They remind me of the ones my brothers ex-girlfriend used to make me when I was a kid.

These have to be the best tamales I have had. Sorry Abuelita and Tia Lupe. I've tried a lot, made by little old mexican ladies and these top them all. They're freshly made, as indicated by the buildup of condensation on the windows (tamales are steamed, guys). I have only tried the regular pork ones, but they have a chicken with green chile and a cheese and jalepeno. The cheese tamales seem to sell out quickly and I haven't been able to try them yet. They're $13 for a dozen. El Patio is a small yellow building. When I was there, a whole team of women were making tamales in the back. It's not a restaurant, it's a tamale-pick-up-center. Go try it and thank me later.

Wow this was amazing! Super delicious. Ordered one chicken, one cheese. $3! Deal! They do have a few tables to sit and eat inside. Which I did. The women asked then if I wanted salsa and sour cream. Yum. Great for gluten free dining on the fast and cheap! Salt and spicy balance was spot on. I don't know if I'll ever be in Oklahoma again, but I'd come back here!

Nothing more to it but just some solid homemade tamales. Not greasy at all. Though quite honestly, they are pretty small. $15 for a dozen but honestly I can finish a dozen in one sitting since their so small. It would be better if they made some homemade salsa to go along with. Not complaining though! The Elote was bomb!

So good! Love ordering a couple dozen tamales each time we go. Salsa is super good as well! Lady that prepares the food is super nice and takes care of Ilya quickly and professionally! Very good authentic shop!

TAMALES: Chicken (4 stars): Spicy. Cheese and chili (5 stars): Spicy but that cheese is so good! Pork (5 stars): Liked it better than the chicken. The tamales are so good!! I could just eat them plain without filling and be happy. So flavorful. $8 for half a dozen $15 for a dozen You can mix and match. ATMOSPHERE: Place is a small shop, not as small as I thought it would be from the reviews. A few tables inside if you do want to eat here. SERVICE: The lady who helped me was really nice. PARKING: Parking in the front, not actual spaces, but there's an area people just park in.

I haven't had tamales like this since I was a kid! They also have snow cones and Mexican corn...

The short and sweet: $15 for a dozen tamales. Pork is great. Chicken is great and has some kick to it. I dig the pork because I'm a wimp when it comes to any spicy at all. Elote is delicious (corn with mayo, parmesan cheese, chili powder, lime, other spices). Nifty sweet snacks in a basket on the counter that cost $2.

Handmade. No lard. By the dozen or half. Three types: cheese and green chile, pork and green chile, or pork in red chile. So good. Eat in or take out. It's not fancy. Doesn't need to be. Packed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday due to people that drive from as far away as Lawton and Clearwater. Absolutely must try if you are tamale fan... Do it.

Omg, believe the hype! I haven't had authentic tamales in so long and saw this place on Yelp when I was in town. I got the pork ones and the meet inside was so tender and flavorful. The batter was more moist then what I've had before but it still tasted DELICIOUS to me. Definitely would come here again when I'm in town!!

SCARY LOOKING OUT FRONT Run-down --- but don't be scared away BECAUSE they make the best Tamales in OKC !!! Try both the red and the green sauce. Buy extra because these don't last long when you take them home. It's true that somebody needs to re-paint the sign out front. I guess they are too busy making the BEST TAMALES in OKC !!! Be sure to order a couple dozen and get some extra sauce, you're gonna Love it if you really like authentic Mexican food. Reminds me of the tamales my babysitter used to bring us way back in the 60's just the right taste & seasoning. People that run it are all extremely friendly and go out of their way to get you want you want. It's Totally Takeout except for a few tiny seating areas which are always full.

Being from California, I missed Authentic tamales and Elotes. Happy I found this place. I always buy 2/3 dozen and they never disappointed.

Great tamales - a huge surprise to me in Oklahoma of all places. Food was not only good but it was a tremendous value. I ordered twelve tamales for $15 and they were delicious. It is a tiny hole in the wall so don't expect a restaurant layout. You order at the counter and take your tamales (or other Mexican goodies) out.

One of the best tamales I've discovered so far. Living in California for most of my life, mexican food pretty much runs in my blood. The best I've ever had in California were those that made them from home and sold them out of their cars in grocery store parking lots. I know sounds sketchy but the best. This was the first physical place to buy tamales I've discovered and they so far haven't failed to satisfy me. Their elote is also delicious. I'd recommend trying everything on their menu, though the cheese tamales weren't that great so I'd advise against it unless you already like them.

Had a taco, enchilada and tamale. Not anything to write home about, in fact, couldn't even eat it. Guess Oklahoma isn't where you should eat Mexican food. Not a place I'll revisit

Like the name of the restaurant suggests, they sell tamales and that's mainly it. They have snacks, snow cones, and other sweet treats but tamales are what you come here for. This is mostly a take out place. There are three tables but no one really eats there. The building is very small. I have had tamales at many Mexican restaurants but these are the best! I basically inhaled three tamales in one sitting. I could've kept going but didn't want to overdo it. The ladies behind the counter are very nice. The woman who took our order didn't speak English that well so we resorted to pointing at the menu. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try! The tamales are melt in your mouth good!

The best Tamales I have had in the US. Size is good taste and presentation is perfect! My favorite are the pork and chicken! Price is perfect too!

Being from Texas I'm picky about the tamales I eat, but I can tell you these are top notch! I tried the cheese & jalapeño and chicken & jalapeño and bot were excellent. 1/2 dozen will do you. Nothing chinchy about these tamales.

These are some good, cheap, authentic tamales! I had heard good things about this place so decided to give it a try when I was craving some Mexican food last week. I got one chicken tamale, one pork tamale, and the nachos with jalapenos, to go. This isn't really the kind of restaurant you eat inside as it is just a few small tables. I liked the pork tamale better than the chicken but they were both very good. The nachos are simple tortilla chips and cheese just like you get at a ballpark. Maybe it's from nostalgia but I loved those damn nachos. I will definitely be back!

Hands down some of the the BEST chicken tamales I have ever had!! If you're looking for tasty tamales I highly recommend this place. Ms Rose, the owner is the sweetest lady :)

This small little tamale shop is located on the south side of OKC and for those that know the OKC well they know this is where you can find very authentic Mexican food and this place does not dissapoint! I odered a dozen red pork (carnitas) tamales from this place and every single one of them reminded me of the way my abuelita (grandmother) makes them, they were wrapped in the traditional corn leafs that make for the masa to really soak into and become moist. All i can say is the place is 100% authentic to how real tamales are made! The place is rather small, it is more of a take out type establishment but there are a couple chairs to sit on if you wanna eat your stuff quickly. The place is also cash only so make sure to bring some greens! If you want authentic tamales in OKC look no further than this place! You wont be dissapointed!

This is a great place to stop for Tamales and I definitely recommend the elotes! Cash only!

Made to perfection! I've gone to so many places and they're always either too stale, crumble easily, chicken is overcooked, or they're way too spicy but not these Tamales! they're the perfect softness, the chicken is cooked right and taste fresh. I stumbled upon this place by accident and I'm glad I did. This will be my #1 place to go for the Holidays! I took a dozen to work for a potluck and everyone loved them! couldnt stop talking about them for days. That's how good they are!

Great tamales. Some are spicy but its just enough and it doesn't linger. Cheese version was my favorite. I bought 3 for $1.50 each. I guess you need to buy more for discount. Cheap lunch

Not bad, not bad at all! We got one dozen mixed. Both of chicken with jalapeños and pork with red chile are good.

I love this small little tamales shop. I get them and take them home. Mostly a take out place that serves mostly tamales. Everyone I know has enjoyed them. My personal favorites are the pork and the cheese and green chile.

Good tamales. Good prices. I only order chicken. They don't have beef.

I ordered a dozen tamales the variety pack with 4 chicken, 4 cheese and 4 pork. They were mushy once unraveled out of the husk I couldn't even hold them in my hand. Good flavor though the cheese was the best. But luck of the draw.

I got three types of tamales: chicken, pork and cheese. Loved them all. My fave was the chicken. Quick service and good food from a mom and pop type store.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
